Organizers seek volunteers, participants for Collegeville-Trappe Memorial Day parade
If you can walk it, roll it, pedal it or pull it down Main Street, organizers want you in the lineup.
Planning is underway for the 2026 Collegeville-Trappe Memorial Day Parade, and volunteers, sponsors, vendors and parade participants are now being sought for the annual event set for Monday, May 25.
This year’s theme, “Celebrating America 250: Collegeville and Trappe’s Role in the Birth of Our Nation,” will highlight the actions of General George Washington’s Continental Army in the local area and honor Pennsylvania soldiers who fought during the Revolutionary War from 1775 to 1783, according to the Collegeville Economic Development Corp.
The mile-long parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Augustus Lutheran Church on Seventh Avenue in Trappe, proceed down Main Street, turn at First Avenue near the Trappe Shopping Center and end at Waterworks Park.
The parade is traditionally led by VFW Post 7155, honoring those who gave their lives in service to the country.
Organizers say “anyone — or anything — that can walk or roll a mile downhill” is welcome. That includes floats, walkers, marching bands, decorated vehicles, bikes, animals and creative inanimate displays. While this year’s focus is on Revolutionary War history, all community groups, businesses and residents are encouraged to participate, according to the CEDC.
In addition to parade participants, organizers are actively recruiting event volunteers, parade sponsors and vendors. Interested community members can register online to march, sponsor the event or lend a hand behind the scenes.
Following the parade, a Remembrance Observance will begin at 11 a.m. at Waterworks Park. The ceremony will be followed by a Community Day celebration featuring a concert, kids’ giant inflatables, GrandPop Bubbles, an old-fashioned free carnival atmosphere and a lineup of food trucks. Community Day runs until 3 p.m.
Food vendors expected at the park include DonutNV Pottstown, Capt’n Chucky’s, Menagerie Foods Smokin Bones BBQ, El Sabor Oaxaqueno Taco Truck, The Flores Family’s Mexican specialties, Rosie’s Kettle Corn, Kona Ice, Troubles End Brewing and Fuzzy’s Munchies
Each year, about 500 individuals participate in the parade, with several thousand spectators lining the route and gathering at the park. The event is organized by the Collegeville Economic Development Corporation, Collegeville and Trappe boroughs, VFW Post 7155, the Community Music School and Verge Church.
Organizers say the event depends on community involvement to continue growing. Those interested in joining, volunteering or donating are encouraged to sign up and help bring this milestone America 250 celebration to life.
