Update, 7:35 p.m.: The suspected shooter is in police custody, Lower Providence authorities announced on Facebook.

A man has been transported to Jefferson Einstein Montgomery by Lower Providence EMS with immediate life-threatening injuries after suffering multiple gunshot wounds during a robbery, reportedly outside, at a Lower Providence beer store Saturday afternoon.

Jefferson Einstein Montgomery was put on temporary closure at 5:34 p.m. until 5:46 p.m., according to Montgomery County emergency communications.

At 4:49 p.m., a caller on the 3900 block of Germantown Pike reported a shooting to Montgomery County emergency dispatch, in which it was noted a man was shot four times after a robbery, with the victim laying on the ground outside Austin’s Beverage at 3905 Ridge Pike at the intersection with Crosskeys Road.

The shooter was reportedly a white male, wearing black attire, last seen walking eastbound on Ridge Pike. Authorities were checking the area for the subject, including near the IBEW Local Union 98. Investigators have cordoned off the area and the surrounding intersection.

Lower Providence and Upper Providence township police departments are on scene.

Avoid the area.
