A 47-year-old man has died from multiple gunshot wounds at Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospital Saturday evening after being shot during a reported robbery outside Austin’s Beverages in Lower Providence Township.
Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Lower Providence Township Police Chief Michael Jackson announced that a suspect is in custody and an investigation into the homicide is underway
The victim – whose name is not being released pending notification of next of kin – was found suffering from gunshot wounds near Ridge Pike and Crosskeys Road Saturday around 4:46 p.m. A 911 call on a reported shooting brought officers to the scene, where the victim was found with gunshot wounds and taken to the hospital by Lower Providence EMS, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, Steele said.

The suspect’s identity and hometown has not been released by authorities, as of Saturday night, and no criminal dockets have been filed for arraignment on homicide charges in the Montgomery County district courts.
