The incident occurred along Graterford Prison Road in March
Pennsylvania State Police said a driver was charged with failing to obey traffic control devices after crashing into a locked gate on Graterford Prison Road in March.
Last week, police announced that a driver of a 2021 Toyota Highlander was southbound on the roadway, south of Mokychic Drive in Skippack Township, at 10:42 a.m. March 25, when they came upon a locked gate prohibiting vehicles from traveling any farther down the roadway.
The driver – whose name, age and hometown were not released by state police – stopped prior to the gate and presumed the gate automatically opened if you got close enough, police said.
Police allege the driver kept advancing forward until the Highlander crashed into the gate.
The driver came to a rest at the gate when they realized it was not automatic and was just locked, police said.
The Highlander was driven from the scene after sustaining minor damage. The driver was not injured, police said.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
