In the quaint town of Perkiomenville, an outpouring of compassion is surrounding a family grappling with the sudden and heartbreaking loss of their only son.

Cody J. Kratz, 25, of Perkiomenville, was killed in a single-vehicle crash late in the evening on Friday, April 4. Now, friends, family, and members of the community are coming together to support his parents, Jenny and Ricky Kratz, through a GoFundMe campaign aimed at easing the financial burden of funeral expenses.

As of May 6, the GoFundMe has raised $14,890 out of an $18,000 goal. Donate to the GoFundMe now.

Kratz was more than a son — he was a partner in life and in work. For the past six years, he worked closely with his father in the family's small home remodeling business, according to the GoFundMe. The tragic loss has left a profound void not only in their hearts, but also in the daily rhythms of their lives.

Described by those who knew him as a blessing and a joy, Kratz’s memory has sparked an overwhelming response of love and generosity.

From heartfelt donations to homemade meals, from prayers to personal messages, support has come in many forms. His mother, Jennifer Kratz, shared her deep gratitude in a recent update, writing, “We have experienced such an overwhelming outpouring of love and support… Thank you for loving our family through this tragedy.”

The GoFundMe, organized by family friend Kristy Hangey Talese, reflects the spirit of a close-knit community determined to lift up the Kratz family in a time of sorrow. As Talese wrote, “We can see and feel the love and support towards them. We cannot thank you all enough.”

Kratz’s passing was confirmed by Pennsylvania State Police, who reported that he was ejected from his 1993 Mazda Miata after the vehicle veered off Ridge Road, striking multiple objects before coming to rest against a tree. Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but Kratz was pronounced dead at the scene.

In the face of such a sudden loss, the Kratz family is not alone. Every contribution to the fundraiser, every note of condolence, and every act of kindness honors the life of the young man.

For those wishing to support the Kratz family, the GoFundMe page remains active, offering a place for visitors to leave a message for the family facing unimaginable grief with grace and resilience.
