  • Things To Do

A new youth mountain bike team has come to town.

"North Penn MTB” is the newest team within the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League (PICL), a youth development organization, under the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) that inspires healthy lifestyles, builds strong communities, and engages youth in trail stewardship through mountain biking.

The team is open to all North Penn area students entering grades six to 12 in the Fall.  No mountain biking experience is necessary.

PICL coaches help introduce students and their families of all abilities and backgrounds to the positive benefits of mountain biking.  Several free pre-season “Try-It!” events are scheduled in May and June.

Bring your own bike or borrow one of ours!

The regular season runs from July 1 through early November, with optional league events and races on various weekend dates in September and October.

There are several practice options throughout the week, allowing for flexibility with other activities.  Alongside opportunities to compete, student athletes can participate in recreational Adventure Rides, smaller Local Dirt races, and other community events that provide all levels of experience and abilities a place to shine.

There are no benchwarmers; everyone rides!

North Penn MTB is financially supported by More Kids On Bikes (MKOB), a Phoenixville-based nonprofit organization dedicated to getting more kids on bikes by engaging the bike community, creating programs and opportunities, and inspiring new riders.

North Penn MTB will join several other PICL teams under the MKOB umbrella.  The group now boasts 60-plus student athletes and 40-plus coaches spanning several school districts throughout Eastern Pennsylvania.

MKOB and PICL are incredibly excited to introduce youth mountain biking to the North Penn area.  For more information, visit www.NorthPennMTB.org  or email info@NorthPennMTB.org.
