Brian Steven Husted, 57, of 10th block of Ring Lane, Levittown, and Robert A Bouffard, 58, of 1000 block of Woodvale Ave., Langhorne, have been charged in the March 20 incident
Two Bucks County men have each been charged by state troopers with felony counts of receiving stolen property for stealing numerous amounts of Verizon wire in Skippack Township.
According to the affidavit, Pennsylvania State Police were patrolling a high theft area of Verizon wire around Collegeville and Miller roads on March 20 at 2:44 a.m., when troopers came across a gray 2006 Toyota sedan parked on the berm with its lights off.
Both occupants – alleged to be Brian Steven Husted, 57, of 10th block of Ring Lane, Levittown, and Robert A Bouffard, 58, of 1000 block of Woodvale Ave., Langhorne – were sitting inside the car when troopers passed, according to the complaint. When police turned around, the driver turned on the lights and began to leave, police allege.
The Toyota was stopped, and Bouffard and Husted provided ID, police said. Both men allegedly had different reasons for being at the location in the same car and admitted they did not know where they were located.
Cut wire belonging to Verizon was in plain view in the backseat, police said in the affidavit. More cut wire was found on the ground and around their vehicle, police said.
Troopers said three Verizon utility poles were identified as having wires recently severed.
Husted and Bouffard were taken into custody and the Toyota was towed to the state police impound lot, pending a search warrant, police said.
Both men are each free on $2,500 unsecured bail ahead of an April 2 preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Adam T. Katzman.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
