  • Things To Do

With the change in seasons, it’s time to visit the Heritage Center.

The 1826 Seipt Family Barn reopens for tours beginning Friday, March 21. All tours are free but guided. You can arrange a tour time ahead by emailing info@schwenkfelder.org or calling 215-679-3103 — or ask when you arrive.

Also this weekend, take advantage of one of the last chances to view an exhibit of model trains, Next Stop Pennsburg! Come on Friday, March 21, and Sunday, March 23, when model train expert Mark Lehmann will be here to answer questions. There also will be kid-friendly scavenger hunts and art activities available for both barns and trains. Admission is free.

These activities are part of the Lehigh Valley’s Passport to History Weekend. Four regional historic sites are open for free during the weekend. Besides the Heritage Center, you can visit the Emmaus Historical Society and the Helfrich Springs Grist Mill on Saturday and Horner’s Cemetery on Sunday.

The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center at 105 Seminary St., Pennsburg, is the regional history museum for the Upper Perkiomen Valley. It is open Tuesday through Sunday with free admission to visit exhibits or research in the library.
