One suspect allegedly fled from police and remains at Montgomery County jail on $200,000 cash bail
Pennsylvania State Police announced Wednesday that the two suspects arrested in the burglary of Skippack Pharmacy early Tuesday morning are from New Jersey.
Benjamin G Nadler, 20, of Princeton, and Fernando Azcona, 29, of South Brunswick, were found in possession of sealed prescription bottles and medications upon apprehension by troopers Tuesday, police said.
Nadler is charged with felony counts of burglary, possession of a controlled substance, and receiving stolen property, per court documents. He is also facing misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of an instrument of crime, police said.
Azcona is charged with the same offenses, as well as misdemeanor evading arrest and summary failure to obey traffic controls as a pedestrian, per court records.
Nadler posted 10% of $25,000 cash bail after his arraignment Tuesday, according to court records. Azcona remains at Montgomery County jail on $200,000 cash bail.
On Tuesday, at 2:17 a.m., troopers responded to Skippack Pharmacy at 4118 Skippack Pike for a report of a burglary in progress, police said.
The police barracks are located around the corner from the pharmacy, less than a half mile.
The owner of the pharmacy, Dr. Mayank Amin aka Vaccine Superman Dr. Mak, reported that there were individuals visible on camera inside his business, police said.
Upon arrival, troopers found a car with its lights on in an adjacent parking lot. Troopers blocked the car in and then saw a man approaching the car from the area of the pharmacy, police said.
Contact was made with the man who was detained after making incriminating statements, police said.
While one trooper placed the first man into custody, a second suspect was seen running out of the pharmacy in the direction of Route 113, police said.
Troopers immediately canvassed the area for the second suspect and apprehended him.
Investigators found additional alleged stolen prescriptions and a hammer on the front passenger seat of the suspects’ car.
The car was towed to police headquarters, pending a search warrant, police said. The subsequent search uncovered additional unprescribed medications, police said.
Both defendants have a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 26 at 11 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Adam T. Katzman.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
