The assault was captured on surveillance video and body-worn cameras, police said.
Charges of felony aggravated harassment by a prisoner and misdemeanor disorderly conduct were held for Montgomery County Common Pleas Court last week against an inmate at Montgomery County jail accused of spitting in a corrections officer’s face in January.
On Jan. 28, detectives were assigned to conduct an investigation into the alleged assault that occurred two days prior at the Lower Providence Township facility by Aramis M Stuckman, 37, of the 40th block of Logan Street, Philadelphia.
The assault was captured on surveillance video and body-worn cameras, police said.
On Jan. 26, at 8 p.m., the officer was overseeing medication distribution in the housing unit, and engaged in a back-and-forth argument with Stuckman, per the complaint. Stuckman allegedly spit in the direction of the officer through the cell bars, and immediately spit again, striking him in the face with saliva, authorities said.
The victim wiped the saliva off with papers he was holding and directed to the medical division by other jail staff, per the affidavit. The victim was later cleared to return to full duty.
Additional corrections officers arrived on scene and one spoke to Stuckman, who allegedly admitted to spitting on the wall next to the victim and threatening the victim with spitting on him next, per the complaint.
Stuckman remains jailed on $10,077 cash bail, which includes a probation/parole detainer.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
