Mike Tirico — one of the most accomplished broadcasters of this generation — will call the Sixers local broadcast on NBC Sports Philadelphia Monday night against the Portland Trail Blazers.
According to Rob Tornoe of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Tirico will join Alaa Abdelnaby on the call, with Taryn Hatcher still serving as the sideline reporter. Kate Scott isn't off, but will instead shift to NBC Sports Philadelphia's pregame coverage for a night, per Tornoe.
NBC hasn't had national broadcast rights for the NBA since 2002, but will be returning as a partner in 2025. That means that Tirico, in addition to being the play-by-play announcer for Sunday Night Football and the face of the network's Olympic coverage, will become the primary play-by-player for NBC.
“I just wanted to have the opportunity to do a few games this year,” Tirico told The Inquirer. “Not just to get the rust off, but refamiliarize yourself with the league ... Since February 1, other than some Olympic work, I’ve been really honing in on the NBA to get back up to speed.”
While NBC is still building up their NBA coverage teams for next season, Noah Eagle will also be a play-by-play announcer for the network. Reggie Miller will be joining Tirico as the No. 1 game analyst, departing Turner, which will no longer be a broadcast partner. Three-time Sixth Man of the Year Jamal Crawford is going to be a game analyst as well.
Most importantly, "Roundball Rock" will be returning for the 2025-26 NBA season:
