Eric Lamond Handy Jr., of Norristown pleaded guilty last week to felony drug possession charges
A Norristown man has admitted to smuggling cocaine and marijuana in his underwear into Montgomery County jail and is awaiting sentencing on his two guilty pleas in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.
Eric Lamond Handy Jr., 31, of the 800 block of Swede Street, pleaded guilty last week to felony possession of contraband in a correctional facility and a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, according to court documents.
Handy Jr. was hit with the offenses by Montgomery County Detectives after he pulled out multiple bags of cocaine from his underwear during a search at Montgomery County jail on Eagleville Road in Lower Providence Township last August.
According to an affidavit, on Aug. 6, 2024, police were assigned to a contraband and narcotics investigation at Montgomery County Correctional Facility at 9:52 p.m.
Handy was brought into the correctional facility, and while being searched, he whispered to an officer, “I have a little weed on me.”
Handy reached into the front of his underwear and brought out a labeled Ziploc-brand package with suspected marijuana. Police again asked Handy to hand over all contraband he had on him, at which time, police said, Handy reached into the front of his underwear again and recovered 10 blue baggies and 31 pink baggies containing cocaine.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
