Michael Armando Myers, 49, of the 300 block of Prospect Ave, Bridgeport, allegedly spit on three officers on two different days
An inmate at Montgomery County jail has been charged with numerous felonies for allegedly spitting on three corrections officers on two occasions at the Lower Providence facility.
Michael Armando Myers, 49, of the 300 block of Prospect Ave, Bridgeport, was charged May 29 by Montgomery County detectives with three felony counts each of aggravated harassment by prisoner and aggravated assault, as well as three misdemeanor charges of recklessly endangering another person, according to court documents.
Detectives said Myers spit in an officer’s face while the victim was working a shift at 11:50 a.m. May 8. The assault was captured on surveillance, where the victim can be seen immediately reacting in a defensive retreat, police said. Myers was restrained in a spit hood and the victim was treated at the medical ward, according to the complaint.
On May 13, at 7:41 p.m., a different corrections officer was working their shift, and as they approached Myers’ cell, he allegedly spit in the officer’s face. Once again, the alleged assault was captured on video and the victim was treated at the medical ward, police said.
Myers was restrained by several other officers, and was taken to the medical ward, investigators said. Officers seated Myers on a bench in the medical ward, with an officer standing guard, according to the complaint.
Detectives said Myers looked like he was preparing to spit, and the officer told him, “Don’t you spit.” Then, Myers spit on the officer, striking them in the chest and arm, police said. The victim was treated at the medical ward.
