Perkiomen Valley School District
For a home with a median assessed value of $180,000, that would mean an annual increase of about $248, per the report
The Perkiomen Valley School Board is preparing to vote next week on a proposed $137.9 million budget for the upcoming school year.
The plan includes a 3.7 percent property tax increase, aimed at narrowing a budget gap of just over $3 million, according to the meeting YouTube video and The Mercury.
During a meeting on Monday, Business Administrator Jim Weaver presented the final budget proposal, noting that spending is set to rise by 3.24 percent compared to the current year.
Revenue, however, is only expected to grow by 1.5 percent, despite a projected 4 percent boost in state funding — an increase that hinges on the passage of the still-pending state budget, per the report.
To help close the deficit, the district will draw $300,000 from its $8.2 million fund balance and implement the tax hike, which would raise the millage rate from 37.32 to 38.7 mills.
For a home with a median assessed value of $180,000, that would mean an annual increase of about $248, per the report.
Additionally, school lunch prices will go up by 10 cents.
The board will vote on the budget at its June 9 meeting. No board members raised concerns during Monday's discussion, according to the video.
