Paul George underwent an arthroscopic procedure on Monday to treat an injury sustained to his left knee during a recent workout, the Sixers announced on Monday evening.
Dr. Jonathan Glashow, the same doctor who is treating Joel Embiid's knee, performed the procedure.
George will begin a rehab program, the Sixers said. His progress will be monitored regularly and a re-evaluation will take place prior to training camp.
According to Kyle Neubeck of PHLY, the surgery was an arthroscopic clean-up that that did not involve major ligaments.
Regardless of the injury's seriousness, it is the third injury to that left knee in less than 12 months.
George suffered a bone bruise from a hyperextension of that knee during a preseason game in October, causing him to miss the start of last season. A little more than a month later, George hyperextended the knee again and missed time due to what the team called a "left knee bone bruise".
That is not to suggest that one injury relates to another or that the current one will hinder George the way the bone bruise did last season. But he's 35 years old with mileage and history on those legs.
The good news is that the Sixers have more than three months until the regular season begins, so they have time to treat this and recover.
As for Dr. Glashow, well, he might want to change specialties after this summer.
