Nor-Gwyn managed only three hits on the night and drew two walks in the loss

Nor-Gwyn’s playoff hopes came to an abrupt end Friday night, as the Hawks were held to just three hits in a 3-0 shutout loss to Chal-Brit in the Bux-Mont American Legion tournament at Hostelley Field.

According to The Mercury, starter Jackson Kelley pitched admirably for Nor-Gwyn, scattering six hits and striking out six in six innings, but the Hawks’ offense struggled to find momentum.

The team’s best chance came in the third inning, when Christian Barnes dropped a single into shallow center to put runners on first and second. However, a groundout and a perfect throw home cut down Jeremiah Criger at the plate, ending the threat, per the report.

Barnes finished 2-for-3, but no other Hawk reached base after the fourth inning as Chal-Brit pitcher Tyler Moore retired the final 10 batters in order, according to the article.

Nor-Gwyn managed only three hits on the night and drew two walks in the loss. The team had also dropped its opening round game to Perkiomen, 4-3, placing them in the elimination bracket.

Despite a disappointing early exit, Nor-Gwyn’s young roster showed flashes of promise throughout the regular season and enters the offseason with valuable postseason experience.
