A new community space in Trappe Borough now stands as both a place of play and a place of remembrance.
On June 22, borough officials and residents gathered to celebrate the grand opening of Sisca Memorial Park, located directly behind Trappe Borough Hall at 525 W. Main Street. The park, named in honor of State Trooper Branden T. Sisca, serves as a tribute to the Perkiomen Valley native who was killed in the line of duty in March 2022.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was a deeply personal moment for the Sisca family, with Branden's wife, Brittany, and their daughter officially opening the park to the public. The space features an inclusive playground for children of all abilities, alongside a peaceful memorial garden designed for reflection and remembrance.
Trooper Sisca, 29, was a graduate of Perkiomen Valley High School and West Chester University. He joined the Pennsylvania State Police in 2021 and served with Troop K in Philadelphia. In addition to his role as a state trooper, Sisca was also the fire chief of the Trappe Fire Company.
On March 21, 2022, Trooper Sisca and fellow Trooper Martin F. Mack III were fatally struck by a vehicle on I-95 in Philadelphia while assisting a pedestrian. All three — Sisca, Mack, and the pedestrian, Reyes Rivera Oliveras— lost their lives in the crash, which was caused by a drunk driver.
Sisca was the 102nd member of the Pennsylvania State Police to die in the line of duty.
The driver, Jayana Webb, was sentenced in 2024 to a prison term of 27½ to 60 years after pleading guilty to multiple charges, including third-degree murder and homicide by vehicle while under the influence.
Now, with the opening of Sisca Memorial Park, his legacy continues in a way that brings families together and strengthens community bonds. Residents of both Trappe and neighboring Collegeville are invited to enjoy the park's offerings, whether for play or quiet remembrance.
