Collegeville Borough is once again calling on civic-minded residents to step forward and serve their community.

Two vacancies are currently open on the Borough’s Planning Commission, and applications are now being accepted to fill the unexpired terms of two recently resigned members. Planning Commission member Frank Muller’s resignation from the commission – and immediate appointment to the zoning hearing board – was approved Wednesday night.

Eligible applicants must reside within the borough. The appointments will begin once the new members are confirmed and will run through December 31, 2025. At that point, Borough Council may choose to reappoint the members for a full four-year term, pending mutual agreement.

The Collegeville Planning Commission is a seven-member advisory board tasked with reviewing and making recommendations to Borough Council on all subdivision and land development applications submitted within the borough. The Commission typically meets on the third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m., either in person at Borough Hall (491 E. Main Street) or virtually via Zoom.

While land development and subdivision reviews make up the majority of the Commission’s work, its responsibilities also include reviewing proposed changes to zoning ordinances and maps, updates to the borough’s Comprehensive Plan, conditional use applications, and rezoning petitions.

Commissioners are appointed by Borough Council and serve on a volunteer basis, receiving no financial compensation. However, the borough does encourage participation in training and educational seminars, which are paid for by the borough.

Residents interested in applying are encouraged to submit a letter of interest to Borough Manager Tamara Twardowski at TTwardowski@borough.collegeville-pa.gov. For additional information, residents may call 610-489-9208.
