Stamp prices will be rising

Get ready to pay a bit more to send a letter.

The U.S. Postal Service has announced its latest price increases, set to take effect this month.

Beginning July 13, 2025, the cost of a Forever Stamp will jump from 73 cents to 78 cents.

The roughly 7.4% hike is part of a broader adjustment to mailing service prices, which the Postal Service’s governing board approved in spring.

If you are a heavy mailer, now is your chance to stock up on stamps at their current price before the increase kicks in.

It is not just Forever Stamps seeing a price bump. Other increases include:

• Metered letters (1 ounce): Rising from 69 cents to 74 cents
• Domestic postcards: Going from 56 cents to 62 cents
• International postcards: Increasing from $1.65 to $1.70
• International letters (1 ounce): Also moving from $1.65 to $1.70
• Additional ounces for letters: Climbing from 28 cents to 29 cents

The Postal Service explained that these changes are vital to achieve “financial stability” as the agency looks for cost-cutting and improved efficiency.

The upcoming increases follow a series of recent price adjustments.

The last increase was in July 2024 when stamp prices rose from 68 cents to 73 cents. Before that, stamps went from 66 cents to 68 cents in January 2024, and from 63 cents to 66 cents in 2023.

As part of the changes, the Postal Service will be reducing the price of postal insurance by 12% when mailing an item.
