A Sharon Hill, Delaware County man has been sentenced to probation after pleading guilty in a 2024 retail theft case involving the theft of more than $1,300 in merchandise from a Target store in Upper Providence Township.

Kevin Antonio Pope Jr., 19, of the 1100 block of Spring Street, pleaded guilty on June 26 to a misdemeanor charge of retail theft. In exchange for the plea, Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge William R. Carpenter sentenced Pope to two years of probation, according to court documents.

As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors dismissed additional charges, including felony conspiracy to commit theft and misdemeanor receiving stolen property.

The charges stem from two thefts that occurred in November 2024 at the Target store in the Oaks section of Upper Providence Township. According to police, Pope was captured on surveillance video selecting items throughout the store and leaving without paying on November 24 around 4 p.m.

Police were called to the store days later, where asset protection personnel provided officers with surveillance footage, still images, an incident report, and an itemized receipt detailing the stolen merchandise. The total value of the stolen goods was reported to be $1,314.14.

Pope was initially charged with felony retail theft, criminal conspiracy, and receiving stolen property. A bench warrant had been issued for his arrest in April 2025 after he failed to appear for a preliminary hearing, where the charges were ultimately held for trial in county court.

With the plea deal finalized, Pope will now serve his sentence under supervision and avoid incarceration, provided he complies with the conditions of his probation.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
