Zachary Twyne, of the 2000 block of Old Arch Road, East Norriton, faces a hearing this month
A prisoner at Montgomery County jail is charged with felony aggravated harassment by a prisoner and aggravated assault for allegedly throwing urine on a corrections officer last month.
Zachary Twyne, 61, of the 2000 block of Old Arch Road, East Norriton, is also charged with is misdemeanor reckless endangerment in the June 10 incident at the Lower Providence Township correctional facility, according to the affidavit.
On June 10, at 9:43 p.m., the victim was working a shift at the jail, when inmate Twyne asked if he could have a cup of liquid soap to wash himself, per the complaint. The officer retrieved the soap, and as he approached Twyne’s cell, Twyne allegedly threw a cup of liquid at the officer, hitting him in the face.
The incident was caught on surveillance video, which allegedly shows the victim reacting in a defensive retreat.
After allegedly throwing the liquid at the victim’s face, Twyne began taunting him, stating that the liquid was his urine.
The victim told investigators that the liquid smelled like urine. Because of the filth, bacteria, and potential exposure to infectious diseases, the victim was immediately taken to Phoenixville Hospital for treatment, police said.
Bail was set at $25,000 cash bail and a preliminary hearing is set for July 15 at 11 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Cathleen Kelly Rebar.
