Rep. Donna Scheuren, R-147th Dist., announced that New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church has received a $16,250 grant from the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Neighborhood Assistance Program.
The funding will help New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church expand its Garden of Hope, which grows food for those who need it most. The church will double the harvest and collaborate with other organizations to reach more people in need. By addressing food access and affordability, the project aims to improve the health and well-being of the community.
“I am delighted to see the New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church included in the DCED’s recent grant awardees,” said Scheuren. “The organization does so much good through its Garden of Hope project. This funding will not only allow it to continue its current efforts but permit it to expand the program to even more people in need of healthy food.”
The Neighborhood Assistance Program, which provides tax credits to businesses contributing to nonprofit organizations that help to revitalize communities, will support 218 projects across the Commonwealth through this round of funding.
