The routine inspection on Friday by the Office of Public Health found the Trappe business was in compliance.
Valerio Coffee Roasters Trappe Cafe at 532 W. Main St. in Trappe Borough received a perfect food establishment inspection report from the Montgomery County Office of Public Health during a routine inspection on Friday.
According to the inspection report, the half-hour inspection found zero health code violations with no foodborne illness risks or public health interactions.
The Trappe business was in full compliance with good hygienic practices, with preventing contamination by hands, with proper cooking, cooling, reheating, hot holding, and cold holding times and temperatures, and with protection from contamination. All dates were properly marked on food items, per the inspection. All refrigeration areas were between 38 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit, and the freezer was at a proper -4 degrees Fahrenheit.
Furthermore, the report found Valerio Coffee Roasters Trappe Cafe was in compliance with all good retail practices, including food temperature control, food identification, proper use of utensils and equipment, prevention of food contamination, and clean and operable physical facilities.
The inspection is good until Jan. 31, 2026.
Valerio Coffee Roasters, which has locations in Manayunk, Audubon, and Fishtown, are artisan roasters regulated by the FDA and Department of Agriculture. Conversely, home-based and small roasters are not regulated by the FDA, meaning no inspections, no safety requirements, and no reporting obligations in place.
According to its website, Valerio team members roast and then package the coffee within hours. It is then shipped within 48 hours of an order being placed. Batch numbers on roasts are tracked as well. Costs begin at $16 for 16 ounces of ground espresso.
The company is run by roastmaster Anthony Valerio and Irene Satterwhite. The Trappe Cafe is managed by Ashlynn Acosta.
