Pennsylvania State Police at Skippack said this week that the front passenger side wheel assembly of a 2007 Honda Civic Del Sol malfunctioned and failed, causing the steering linkage to become separated in a single-vehicle crash in Worcester Township last month.

Police also cited the driver for failure to stay in their lane, according to the complaint.

On Dec. 27, at 10:01 a.m., a 37-year-old North Wales man was driving the Honda southbound on North Whitehall Road near Bean Road, when the malfunction occurred, police said. The driver pulled to the left and went off the left side of the roadway and down a small embankment, coming to rest in the front yard of 1716 N. Whitehall Road, police said.

The Honda sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene, per the report. The driver was uninjured.
