A 21-year-old East Greenville woman was charged with criminal mischief, arson-dangerous burning, and violating an open burning ban for allegedly lighting spiritual and religious writings on fire in an Upper Hanover Township park in November.
Pennsylvania State Police at Skippack reported last week that troopers responded to Camelot Park on Church Road for a report of criminal mischief and arson, police said.
Upon arrival, police determined the crime occurred when the defendant allegedly burned multiple papers and Post-It Notes with spiritual and religious writings using a lighter on the floor and a green rubber-coated picnic tabletop. The picnic able was under a pavilion and in the women’s restroom, per authorities.
The accused caused about $100 in damages to the picnic tabletop, police said.
During a follow-up interview with the woman, she admitted to engaging in a dangerous open burning during a 30-day countywide ban, police said.
The investigation remains open pending further court proceedings.
