Lansdale Historical Society, Round Guys Brewery, Lansdale Lions Club and White's Road Park Charlie & Sonny also named winners.
One local business is having a fiesta over a recent win as sweet as the sugar and cinnamon treats it sells out of its food truck.
Veteran-owned and operated Fiesta Churros clinched First Place in the Discover Lansdale 2024 Holiday Tree Display contest.
Owned by the Cantu family of Upper Gwynedd Township – husband Baldemar, a retired U.S. Marine Corps corporal who served from 2004 to 2007, and his wife Yanira – Fiesta Churros was formed and founded amid the pandemic in November 2020. Its specialty is daily hot freshly made churros with optional fillings.
Now, four years later, these successful entrepreneurs’ food truck is a mouthwatering staple at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets in Limerick Township and at numerous Lansdale Borough and Discover Lansdale events. Fiesta Churros was a first-time MusikFest vendor this year, and has had a presence at TacoFest at SteelStacks in Bethlehem. During this year’s Lansdale Mardi Gras Parade, Fiesta Churros sold chocolate peppermint-drizzled churros and hot cocoa.
Fiesta Churros is open Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., or until they sell out, and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., or until they sell out. Book them for an event now here.
"It's original churros, you're not going to find this," Cantu told WFMZ at MusikFest, "everything we make is fresh, and once we sell out, we usually sell out."
Its menu includes three options for your fiesta de churros:
Dips include Dulce de Leche and Nutella for $1 each. Drinks include Aguas Frescas lemonade, horchata or mango, Coke, Diet Coke or Sprite, bottled water, and coffee.
Second place in the Holiday Tree Display went to Lansdale Historical Society, followed by White’s Road Park Charlie & Sonny in third place. Fourth and fifth place honors went to Round Guys Brewing Co. and Lansdale Lions Club, respectively.
The display was hosted by Brian Derbyshire at his space in the former The Reporter offices at 307 Derstine Ave.
