  • Things To Do

Montgomery County’s Green Lane Park is hosting three free public educational programs this March, starting with "Maple Sugar Magic" demonstrations on Saturday, March 1.

Maple Sugar Magic

Saturday, March 1 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Bring the whole family to experience some Pennsylvania "Maple Sugar Magic”. This program explores the wonder of Maple Sugaring time, now in our 36th year at Green Lane Park. We will demonstrate tree-tapping and sap gathering, the boiling of sap to make syrup, and learn about the discovery of maple sugar dating back to the 1500’s. Of course there will be taste-testing as well! Pure Pennsylvania maple syrup, candy and cream will be available for sale. To limit crowd size, two demonstrations are offered at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The program is FREE and suitable for all ages. Meet at Hill Road Day Use Area, 2821 Hill Road, Green Lane, PA 18054. Rain date is Sunday, March 2 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Waterfowl Watch

Saturday, March 8 at 1 p.m.

The spring migration of ducks, geese, and swans will be wrapping up soon. Join in a search for early migratory and resident birds at the Green Lane Park Important Bird Area. You will quickly learn why the park is one of Eastern Pennsylvania’s premier birding sites!

Suitable for ages 12 to adult. The program is FREE, but pre-registration is required by calling 610-287-6970. Bring binoculars and meet at the Tennis Court parking lot, 2298 Green Lane Road, Green Lane PA 18054.

Girls in Green: A Brief History of Women in Outdoor Recreation & Conservation

Saturday, March 22 at 11 a.m.

Join us for this special program in observance of Women's History Month. Region II’s female rangers will present a program on women in the field of natural sciences and beyond. We will explore accomplishments and recognize the women who helped pave the way in science and recreation. We will have an optional fern craft to do at the end of the presentation.

Pre-registration is required by calling 610-287-6970. Program will be held in the Stone Lodge, 2144 Snyder Rd, Green Lane, PA 18054.
