CAMDEN - Tonight is the night the Sixers begin to turn their season around, according to Ricky Council IV.
It starts with focusing on the Brooklyn Nets. Looking to avenge a loss to the Nets leading into the All-Star break and bounce back from a drubbing at the hands of the Boston Celtics on Thursday, 'togetherness' has to be critical, Council told reporters at Saturday's shootaround.
"Just being together. Togetherness. Just doing it as a whole. From the bench, to the coaches, to everybody on the court. Just overall togetherness, and I think we'll be fine," Council said.
"I mean, there's a lot of other little things you could probably say about. But, I feel like we're playing together, we're on the same page, we have high energy - on the court and on the bench - I think we'll be alright."
The Sixers, mired in a miserable season, do not strike you as a team that is not together when the cameras come out at practice. At worst, spirits appear stable. So, if togetherness has to be at the forefront, what's not 'together'?
"I'm not going to say what's not together. But, like I said earlier, what 'togetherness' is is team chemistry, energy on the court, energy on the bench, energy from the coaches. Positive energy, in the same direction," Council said.
"I mean, I know things can be negative. I think we've lost six in a row now. So, any piece of positivity we can have, we just need it. We need to bring it every night.
It starts now."
