Taylor Schaible, of Foxcroft Lane, Schuylkill Township, is also accused of punching an employee after refusing to leave.
A Schuylkill Township man allegedly attacked a patron at Harvest Grill in Upper Providence Township and headbutted an officer during an arrest last month.
Taylor Schaible, 56, of the 80th block of Foxcroft Lane, has been charged with felony aggravated assault on a officer, misdemeanor resisting arrest, misdemeanor drug possession and summary charges of harassment, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness, stemming from an arrest on the night of Jan. 29, according to charging documents.
At 9:14 p.m., Upper Providence Township Police were dispatched to Harvest Grill at the Providence Town Center shopping center at 51 Town Center Dr., for a report of a fight between a patron and staff members, police said.
The man, identified as Schaible, was the subject of a previous disturbance call earlier in the night, authorities allege. Schaible was reported to be at the bar inside PF Chang’s, police said, and that is exactly where officers found him.
Schaible was approached from behind by police and an officer gained control of his wrists, informing him he was being detained, police said. While attempting to handcuff Schaible, his arms stiffened and officers had to use force to keep his hands behind his back, police said.
While escorting Schaible out of the restaurant, he allegedly continued to pull away and curse at officers, per the affidavit. Police used substantial force to remove Schaible from the restaurant.
Upon reaching the patrol car, an officer began to pat down Schaible to check for ID, but he allegedly headbutt the officer.
Schaible was taken to another area of the patrol vehicle, where he allegedly refused to sit inside. Officers then had to escort Schaible to a second patrol car equipped with a full cage prisoner area, due to his alleged active resistance.
Police said Schaible used his foot to push an officer away as police tried to pull him into the prisoner area. When pulling him into the patrol car, police detected an odor of alcohol on his person, police said.
When officers found his ID, they also allegedly found an ONI nicotine pouch container with “INDICA” written on it, which is a strain of marijuana, police said. The container had suspected marijuana residue, as well as multi-colored cubed gummies and a pink pill, per the affidavit.
Police found out that Schaible was asked to leave the restaurant after he was being loud and disorderly, according to the complaint. Schaible allegedly became more agitated, and an employee got involved to separate Schaible from the complainant. While the employee was trying to get Schaible to leave, Schaible allegedly punched the employee in his chest.
Schaible then left toward Collegeville Road, police said.
He is free on $10,000 unsecured bail and has a preliminary hearing set for March 4 at 10 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Cathleen Kelly Rebar.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
