As the city prepares for more than one million Eagles fans to descend on the streets of Philadelphia for the parade to honor the Super Bowl champions, SEPTA announced plans Wednesday for its service to get as many people as possible to the parade route.

City officials are highly recommending taking public transportation to get to the parade, but the public should also expect longer wait times to travel, and should plan accordingly to get to their desired destination early.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at Lincoln Financial Field proceeding North on Broad Street, ending on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The final ceremony will be held at the Art Museum at 2 p.m. until approximately 3:15 p.m.

The best bet for getting to-and-from the parade route are the Market-Frankford Line or Broad Street Line.

SEPTA officials announced on Wednesday that service will run every six to eight minutes starting at approximately 5 a.m. and will continuously on that schedule through 12:30 a.m.

Both lines will provide free rides all day, paid for by Gran Coramino, a line of premium tequilas founded by Philadelphia native Kevin Hart and the official luxury tequila partner of the Philadelphia Eagles.

This is a great benefit for riders, and SEPTA officials said it also helps with safety and crowd flow by making boarding trains easier.

However, not every station will be open along these lines. Trains will only stop at certain stations to keep the planned six- to eight-minute travel time consistent throughout the day.

The stations that will be open are:

Broad Street Line (North-South)

  • Fern Rock Transportation Center
  • Olney Transportation Center
  • Erie
  • North Philadelphia
  • Cecil B. Moore
  • Race-Vine
  • Walnut-Locust
  • Snyder
  • Oregon
  • NRG

Market-Frankord Line (Northeast-West)

  • Frankford Transportation Center
  • Arrott Transportation Center
  • Erie-Torresdale
  • Allegheny
  • Huntingdon
  • Girard
  • 11th Street
  • 30th Street
  • 40th Street
  • 52nd Street
  • 60th Street
  • 69th Street Transportation Center

This means City Hall and 15th Street will be closed. So will Suburban Station for Regional Rail service.

Regional Rail lines will run on limited, modified service from 4:30 a.m. through 10:50 p.m. In addition, this service will only operate inbound in the morning and outbound in the afternoon and evening. The closest Regional Rail Stop to the parade route will be either 30th Street or Jefferson Station.

In addition, fares for Regional Rail must be purchased in advance. Tickets will not be available on Friday either at stations or on the train itself. Loaded Key cards and Rail passes are acceptable. SEPTA is selling a one day travel card for $10. It can also be used after Friday.

Essential workers can walk up to a SEPTA official at each train station and be guaranteed a seat on the train to get to work instead of having to wait for the parade crowd.

Parking at train stations will be limited, and payment at those spots will be enforced.

If you want to risk driving into the city, street parking will be free on Friday, but good luck finding a spot. Garages and lots will also be open, but will likely fill up. Some roads will also be closed off for the parade, adding more of a hassle for drivers.

For New Jersey residents, PATCO trains will arrive and depart every five minutes on Friday. They will depart only from Lindenwold, Woodcrest, Ferry Avenue and City Hall on the New Jersey side and will drop off at 9th/10th and Locust in Philadelphia.

PATCO will only run eastbound beginning at 1 p.m. through 7 p.m.
