Two Millville, New Jersey women have each been charged with two counts of felony retail theft and two counts of misdemeanor receiving stolen property after allegedly stealing more than $400 in Eagles Super Bowl merchandise from Dick’s Sporting Goods on Front Street in Upper Providence Township.
On Jan. 31, at 5:30 p.m., police were called to the store for a report of two women – identified as Barbara B. Davila, 38, of the 800 block of North 5th Street, and Chicana Latoya Brown, 45, of the 400 block of West Green St. – who had allegedly concealed Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl merchandise and were leaving the store in a black 2014 Dodge Charger.
Police found the car leaving the shopping center and heading west on Route 422, per the complaint. A traffic stop was conducted and Brown and Davila were in the car as passengers, police said.
A black New Era Eagles championship Super Bowl hat was found on Brown’s head, police said, and still had the barcode stickers on it.
A black Eagles jersey was also found stuffed under the driver’s seat, police said.
Authorities said the thefts were caught on surveillance and police found discarded hangers from the stolen jerseys hanging at the ends of a clothing rack, police said.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
