“Short n’ Sweet” beat out other albums by Carpenter’s contemporaries, including Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Best New Artist Chappell Roan, and Lehigh Valley native and pop icon Taylor Swift.
With two prestigious Grammy wins for Best Pop Vocal Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album Sunday night, Quakertown-born and East Greenville-raised Sabrina Carpenter’s career trajectory is anything but short, and, to her fans, everything sweet.
“Short n’ Sweet” beat out other albums by Carpenter’s contemporaries for Best Pop Vocal Album, including Billie Eilish (“Hit Me Hard and Soft”), Ariana Grande (“eternal sunshine”), Best New Artist Chappell Roan (“The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess”) and Lehigh Valley native and pop icon Taylor Swift (“The Tortured Poets Department”).
“Espresso” cliched the Best Pop Solo Performance, topping nominees Beyonce for “Bodyguard,” “Apple” by Charli xcx, “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish, and “Good Luck, Babe!” by Chappell Roan.
Another hit by the “Girl Meets World” actress, “Please Please Please,” was up for Song of the Year and its songwriters Amy Allen, Fun. and Bleachers singer-songwriter and producer Jack Antonoff and Carpenter. However, Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” won by a majority of 13,000 of Grammy voters.
“Short n’ Sweet” was nominated for Album of the Year, but lost to “Cowboy Carter” by Beyonce.
Carpenter's wins came as a surprise, as she expressed her gratitude and disbelief during her acceptance speeches. Her mother, who drove her to every vocal lesson, was among those she thanked, highlighting the personal sacrifices and support that contributed to her success.
