A former corrections officer at a state prison has been charged with having sexual relationships with multiple inmates and using a prison computer to steal their personal information for an identity theft scheme, Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced this week.
Kristina Miller, 35, of McKean County, was charged with felony counts of institutional sexual assault and unlawful use of a computer after an investigation by Pennsylvania State Police. She also faces several misdemeanor counts of conspiracy to commit identity theft and conspiracy to commit theft by deception.
The charges stem from alleged conduct between 2020 and 2023, while Miller was employed at the State Correctional Institution Forest in rural Forest County.
According to the attorney general’s office, Miller, of McKean County, repeatedly engaged in sexual relationships with three inmates.
The investigation found Miller accessed the prison’s inmate database to obtain personal information, which she then shared with a co-conspirator to commit financial fraud, authorities said.
“This defendant is accused of abusing her position of authority while engaging in multiple criminal acts,” Sunday said in a statement. “This conduct violated the trust placed in her to protect her community and can undermine the integrity of our correctional institutions.”
Miller was preliminary arraigned Wednesday, and her bail was set at $100,000 unsecured.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
