Sherilynn Nurmi, of the 1000 block of West Richardson Avenue, Langhorne, allegedly gave false name after being stopped with $1,100 in stolen merchandise, suspected heroin and crack cocaine

A Bucks County woman with three active warrants for theft has been charged with felony retail theft and misdemeanor charges of false identification to police, intentional possession of suspected heroin and use/possession of drug paraphernalia stemming from an arrest at Giant Food Store in Lower Providence Township.

On July 17, 2025, at 1:12 p.m., police responded to the store at 2670 Egypt Road for a report of a theft in progress, allegedly committed by Sherilynn Nurmi, 38, of the 1000 block of West Richardson Avenue, Langhorne.

Police said Nurmi took items from Giant without paying for them. She was stopped inside a McDonald’s restaurant at 604 S. Trooper Road carrying two large green reusable shopping bags, and told she was stopped because a theft occurred at the food store, police said. Nurmi said she had not been to Giant and attempted to walk around the officer, according to the complaint.

Nurmi was told she was not free to leave, and she asked why, police said. She was told she was under investigation for a theft at Giant, with a witness from the store coming to McDonald’s to properly identify Nurmi, police said.

When asked for her name and birthday, Nurmi told police she was “Kristen McKernan,” spelling out the name, and gave a birthdate of Sept. 17, 1985 and an address of 1700 Ft. Washington Road, Maple Glen, police said.

An employee from Giant was taken to McDonald’s and positively identified Nurmi as the thief, police alleged. Nurmi was taken into custody and both green bags contained numerous over-the-counter medications and toiletries, totaling $1,116.38, police said.

Nurmi also carried two black bags, in addition to the green shopping bags, police said. Those bags were found to contain 12 bags of suspected heroin, numerous empty small clear Ziploc-brand baggies, blue wax paper, two used hypodermic needles and syringes, and 12 unused needles and syringes, police said.

Furthermore, the bags contained a small glass tube with residue, consistent with a crack pipe, according to the complaint. A ball of Chore Boy-brand copper scrubbing, used as a filter for smoking crack, was also found in the bag, police said. One of the bags also contained several small, clear blue and pink flip-top plastic vials containing white residue, suspected to be crack cocaine, and one vial with a white chunky substance, which tested positive for cocaine base, police said.

Nurmi denied being diabetic, according to the complaint.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
