Citizens may also provide photos to be copied for the collection as well
Lower Frederick Township is looking to collect – or make copies of – historical photos of the township.
Photos or copies can be dropped off or mailed to the township building at 53 Spring Mount Road, Schwenksville, PA 19473.
The postcard above is of the Spring Mountain House, which was built in 1883 and was open until the late 1940s.
Once labeled as the “Most Modern Hotel in Perkiomen Valley,” the Spring Mountain House extended over 130 acres on Spring Mountain and sat at an altitude of 600 feet.
The Spring Mountain House could accommodate 150 guests in the main building, annex building, and bungalows.
The building reopened as a retirement home, and after that closed, it was torn down in the 1990s.
