Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery and Delaware Counties has received a $25,000 donation from Peoples Security Bank & Trust. The donation was made in conjunction with the Neighborhood Assistance Program Tax Credit of Pennsylvania, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

The donation, announced last week, will be used to:

  • Purchase and renovate existing properties to provide more affordable homeownership opportunities in Pottstown.
  • Complete essential home repairs for existing homeowners, prioritizing seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities. Those home repairs will be made through a program that provides income-qualified homeowners with necessary health, safety, and accessibility-related home repairs and modifications

Habitat MontDelco is currently renovating a property in Pottstown, and said it plans renovations of several more properties in the Pottstown area.

“Significant contributions from our valued partners like Peoples Security Bank & Trust allow us to supplement our immediate capital needs for the renovation and preservation of affordable and attainable homeownership opportunities for individuals and families in Montgomery and Delaware Counties,” Keith Sterling, CEO of Habitat MontDelco, said. “With this type of support, we can further expand our mission.”

Jeff Brusko, senior vice president at Peoples Security Bank & Trust said it’s important for his organization to partner with organizations like Habitat MontDelco.

“Their work helps to stabilize neighborhoods and foster community engagement through the renovation and building of affordable homes and providing a foundation to build generational wealth,” Brusko said.

The goal of the Neighborhood Assistance Program Tax Credit of Pennsylvania, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, is to “promote community participation and collaborations among the residents, nonprofits, and businesses while producing outcomes by assisting a distressed area or the low-income population in a neighborhood.”

In FY2025-26, the DCED is prioritizing initiatives that align with the vision and goals of the Commonwealth’s Housing Action Plan and Economic Development Strategy.

Since its inception in 1989, Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery and Delaware Counties has provided 112 affordable mortgages and served more than 240 owner-occupied households through critical health, safety, and accessibility repairs, according to the release. Across all programs, the organization said it has impacted more than 350 households in both counties and invested nearly $15 million in affordable housing development initiatives.
