Carl L. Speight, of Philadelphia, was charged March 15 for allegedly shoplifting from the Upper Providence store
A Philadelphia man is facing a felony retail theft charge and misdemeanor receiving stolen property offense for allegedly stealing $940 in Nike merchandise from Dick’s Sporting Goods in Upper Providence.
On March 15, at 5:11 p.m., Upper Providence Police were called to the store at 400 Front Street for a reported retail theft allegedly committed by Carl L. Speight, 59, of the 1700 block of West Fountain Street.
Police said the caller reported that at 4:45 p.m., Speight stole multiple clothing items and concealed them inside a black Nike duffel bag. Speight allegedly stole numerous Nike sportswear jackets valued between $100 and $110 each.
Video surveillance showed Speight, walking with a distinct limp, committed the thefts and a manager took a photo of Speight’s gray 2022 Kia Soul as evidence, police said.
