Officers from multiple departments race to track down armed suspects after two vehicles are stolen in the dead of night
Officers from multiple Perkiomen Valley police departments were unable to locate suspects involved in a carjacking and separate robbery of two vehicles in Upper Providence Township during the early hours of Friday morning.
Police said at 1:10 a.m. Friday, police were dispatched to the area of Wawa in the Oaks section of the township for a report of a stolen vehicle.
Simultaneously, police said officers were told of a second stolen car in the area of Black and Egypt roads.
Officers flooded the area and located both stolen cars near Egypt and Longford roads, along with two victims, who reported their vehicles had just been stolen, police said.
Police said the suspects were described as Black males, wearing ski masks and dark clothing, with both showing guns during the carjackings.
Officers located and pursued two stolen vehicles, until one vehicle crashed at Yeager and S. Lewis roads in the Royersford section of the township, police said.
Police terminated the pursuit and checked on the occupants of the crashed stolen vehicle, but they fled in an unknown direction, police said.
Members of the Upper Providence Township Police, Limerick Township Police, Royersford Borough Police, Collegeville Borough Police, Spring City Police, and Spring-Ford School Police searched the area of the crash site on foot and with police canines, while Upper Providence Township Fire Department provided support at the scene and Montgomery County Emergency Services deployed drones to thoroughly search the area, police said.
They were unable to locate the suspects after searching for several hours, police said.
Upper Providence Township Police’s Criminal Investigation Division is actively investigating the robbery and stolen vehicles.
