It offers a perfect opportunity for family members of all ages, from young children to grandparents, to spend valuable time together.
“A Midsummer Night's Dream” brings Shakespeare's beloved comedy to life in this whimsical ballet. Featuring choreography by Artistic Director Joy Delaney-Capponi and the music of Felix Mendelssohn, the composer’s score brilliantly captures the spirit of Shakespeare’s comedy, including “Song with Chorus,” a lullaby for the fairy queen Titania, and a lively “Scherzo” for the fairies. One of the most recognizable pieces is the “Wedding March,” often heard at modern wedding ceremonies. The dancers of Philadelphia Dance Theatre will revel in this beautiful score and will enchant you with the magic, mischief, and romance of a midsummer's night.
The second act features the world premiere of “Sinatra Songbook”, an original ballet also choreographed by Delaney-Capponi. Set to the timeless songs of Frank Sinatra, you are invited to reminisce as the dancers of Philadelphia Dance Theatre take you on a sentimental journey of a once in a lifetime love. They just might get you out of your seat and ‘Come Dance with PDT!’
The performances will highlight choreography by Delaney-Capponi, lighting design by Dave Todaro and costumes by Joan Fox. Guest artists include Charles Michael Patterson and Floyd McLean. For more information about Philadelphia Dance Theatre visit their website and follow them on Instagram.
