A former employee and driver for John R. Young & Co. heating fuel business in Green Lane Borough has been accused of delivering 155 gallons of heating oil to a residence that was not a client and then charging the delivery of $544 to a different client’s bill.

Pennsylvania State Police at Skippack reported Friday that the managing owner of John R. Young & Co. on Lumber Street reported the theft the morning of March 12.

Police said the business hired a new commercial driver to deliver fuel to local residences on March 11. Then, a client of John R. Young & Co. contacted them to report that their home received two heating oil bills for separate amounts of heating oil on the same day, police said.

The business office investigated the claim, and found that the new driver delivered the oil to a non-client residence. The driver was interviewed and then fired by the company, police said.

The investigation of alleged theft by deception is ongoing. Police did not release the suspect's name.
