A Spring City man allegedly sent a victim to Paoli Hospital for treatment for trauma following an altercation in Lower Providence Township and is now charged with felony aggravated assault.
James J Hill III, 50, of 100 block of Keen Road, was charged by Lower Providence Police Sept. 16 with the felony charge, as well as misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats and disorderly conduct, and summary charges of harassment, according to court documents.
Hill posted 10% of $10,000 cash bail on Sept. 16, according to court records. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 22 at 10:30 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Cathleen Kelly Rebar.
Police said on Sept. 15, at 9:29 p.m., police were dispatched to a home on the 3000 block of Highley Road, Lower Providence, for a report of a man, identified as Hill, accusing another man of hitting his children and another woman. It was determined the incident was a verbal dispute and the victim left the house prior to police arrival, police said.
While speaking with Hill during the incident, police said he threatened to beat a woman’s husband, saying the man was “finished” and he “didn’t care what the cops or courts do.”
Police said Hill was visibly upset and aggressive, and eventually left the scene in his car.
At 10:12 p.m., police were dispatched to Pinetown and Egypt roads regarding an assault victim, per the complaint. Upon arrival, police allegedly found Hill and the man he threatened earlier in the night.
Hill, police allege, admitted to hitting the victim in the face, who was lying in the middle of the roadway and bleeding from the head.
Lower Providence Emergency Medical Services transported the victim from the scene.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
