The Phillies reached 90 wins for the 17th time in 142 seasons on Sunday, as Cristopher Sanchez pitched a gem against the Mets and the bats came through late. Buddy Kennedy tied the game with an RBI double in the eighth. J.T. Realmuto singled off of Edwin Diaz in the ninth to end it.
Sanchez is the biggest story of the day. His development into a top-of-the-rotation starting pitcher has been remarkable.

The way he's pitched this last month compared to Aaron Nola and Ranger Suarez, Cristopher Sanchez has to be a legitimate candidate to start Game 2 of a playoff series for the Phillies.
Sanchez's ERA at Citizens Bank Park is now a sparkling 2.05. Would the Phillies consider starting him in game two of an NLDS? We shall see, but it's a great dilemma for the team to have.
The Phillies didn't give their lefty starter much run support, but Buddy Kennedy came through clutch in the eighth:

Ask not what Buddy Kennedy do for you, ask what you can do for Buddy Kennedy. @Phillies

I love how Buddy Kennedy and Cal Stevenson feel like new peripheral characters awkwardly written into your favorite sitcom after six seasons, only for them to be given some of the show’s best lines

Mets fans are handling it well.
"Cal Stevenson" and "Buddy Kennedy" ending our season on back to back days. I fucking hate it here.

Kennedy's hit tied the game, but it was a J.T. Realmuto single that ended it:

This is the fourth time in Phillies history they have been the first team in baseball to 90 wins in a season joining the 2011, 1977, 1964 Phillies teams. https://t.co/ifmjAEsJ2p
After sweeping the Rays and taking two of three from the Mets, the red hot Phillies now travel to Milwaukee for a three game set. With another strong series, the Phils could effectively lock up a top-two seed in the National League and a first-round postseason bye.
It's feeling Red Octobery in Philadelphia.
