Skippack Township honored a resident’s patriotism and love of country and community at the start of its supervisors meeting Wednesday night.
David B. Jones, who resides in the Fair Hills section of the township on Church Road, was honored with a township Outstanding Citizen Award for his beloved community display of American flags.
“Every year, he cuts the grass along the road, edges it perfectly, then sets out American flags along the road,” said supervisors Chairman Paul Fox. “Then, sets out American flags along the road, perfectly spaced. I don’t know how long it takes you. He does that for the Fourth of July, Veterans Day, and Memorial Day. His neighbors contacted us (for the recognition) and contacted State Sen. Tracy Pennycuick’s Office.”
Jones was presented a plaque alongside a representative Pennycuick’s office.
The outstanding citizen and Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School graduate is retired from the U.S. Army, where he was a helicopter crew chief, and is director of maintenance with Liberty Warbirds Association in Lititz, Pa.
“We’d like to acknowledge you for your community service,” Fox said, “with this Outstanding Citizen Award for a community display of flags, proudly presented …in recognition of your dedication in honoring our country and veterans. Your dedication is a beacon of patriotism and honor.”
