I was driving the other day, blasting Dancing On My Own on 1,500 watts of audio amplification spread across 20 speakers, as one does when the weather turns cool, and I thought to myself, self, I wonder when we'll get some inkling of a new Phillies anthem?
And then, bam, I sit down today and get smacked in the face with shockingly stabilized video of Garrett Stubbs in full training mode for Red October, dancing and singing DOMO on stage at McGillin's.
Behold, your feels:
Red October is near

Garrett Stubbs is the man of the people.

Stubbs told us he was there with Jeff Hoffman, Kody Clemens, Buddy Kennedy(!), and their assorted wives and girlfriends, and was compelled by the group to kick it one more time when bargoers started singing karaoke. But that this is "not a preview of Dancing On My Own being the October song. Just having some fun."
It's sort of like Justin Timberlake doing N'Sync songs at his concerts. Yeah, you know that phase is over. That was a different time. A different station in life. A different era. He's moved on, and save for some May memes every year, you've largely grown to accept this more grownup stage of his career, even if the newer songs are somehow lesser... orrrrrr perhaps it's just nostalgia that has the old ballads hit different. Either way, you enjoy it when it happens.
So Justin may not need Joey Fatone anymore, and Stubby may not need Callum Scott. But man, it's great to see them together every once in a while.
