An Exton teenager caused his car to go airborne and land in a field, Pennsylvania State Police allege, after he was speeding and struck a roundabout in Upper Salford earlier this month.
Police said the teen was speeding in a 2020 Subaru WRX/STI on Shelly Road at 10:47 p.m. Oct. 18, approaching the roundabout at Old Skippack Road.
The Subaru hit a sign while entering the roundabout, police said, went straight, struck the curb of a center island, went up a hill of the island and then went airborne.
Police said the car landed back on Shelly Road on the other side of the roundabout, gouging the asphalt as it landed.
The car continued to strike another curb on the southwest side of the roundabout, then hit a one-way sign on the shoulder, finally coming to rest 50 feet in a field near the intersection, police said.
The teen then exited the car and fled on foot, police said.
According to court records, the teen was charged with seven summary offenses, and no misdemeanors or felonies.
