Elderly man killed after being hit by car in Upper Providence Wednesday afternoon

An elderly man from King of Prussia was hit and killed by a car in the parking lot outside Staples a 1844 E. Ridge Pike in Upper Providence Township Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the police Accident Reconstruction team is currently investigating the accident, which occurred around 12:15 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing and no further details will be released. Police said the victim's identity will not be released until next of kin has been notified.

The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene, police said. 

The driver of the striking vehicle has been fully cooperative with authorities and is assisting in the investigation, police said.

Upper Providence Police extended its condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim.
