A Lower Providence woman is accused of struggling with a woman during a robbery of her purse that she ripped the victim’s fingernail off.
Lisa Marie Donahue, 43, of the 2000 block of Greenes Way Circle, Collegeville, was charged this month by Lower Providence Police with felony robbery-taking property by force and misdemeanor charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property in the Oct. 8 incident on the 2000 block of Greenes Way Circle, per an affidavit.
Donahue remains in Montgomery County jail on $1,077 cash bail and a parole/probation detainer, per court records.
Police received a report of a dispute between two women, with one, described as in her 40s and wearing a gray sweatsuit, walking around the neighborhood, police said.
Upon arrival to the home, police said the victim told them she had a verbal argument with Donahue, who grabbed and took hold of her purse by force.
Police allege the victim grabbed the purse to prevent it from being taken from her, and while holding it, the victim’s fingernail ripped off, causing a small wound.
In pain, the victim released the purse, at which time, Donahue allegedly stole a debit card and $29 cash, police said.
Police stopped Donahue near the house and found several credit cards and cash in her hand, police allege in the complaint. Donahue handed over the items, and police discovered the license and debit card in her possession did not match her name, police said.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 3 at 9:30 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Cathleen Kelly Rebar.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
