Jeffrey Krajnik was naked, except for his shoes, 200 feet away from his West Fifth Avenue home, police say.
A Collegeville man has been charged with open lewdness after he was found after midnight 200 feet away from his house wearing nothing but shoes.
Collegeville Police allege Jeffrey Randall Krajnik, 45, of the 200 block of West Fifth Avenue, also committed misdemeanor loitering and nighttime and summary disorderly conduct by creating a physically offensive situation, per charging documents.
On June 23, at 12:26 a.m., police were patrolling West Fifth Avenue near its intersection with Third Avenue, when they saw Krajnik walking along the street, naked, except for his shoes, police said.
Police said his nudity was “likely to be observed by others and was of a nature that would alarm or affront members of the community.”
Upon seeing police, Krajnik allegedly attempted to conceal himself by hiding behind an egg and fruit sales stand at 222 W. Fifth Ave., police said.
Then, he tried to pass through a split-rail fence, police allege, that led directly to a private home, but he was stopped by wire mesh.
Police said his actions served no legitimate purpose, creating an unnecessary risk of public discomfort and alarm.
Krajnik was arrested and read his rights, and told police his address, which was 230 feet from he was first spotted by police, per the complaint.
He provided “inconsistent and implausible” explanations for his actions, police said, and he was unaware he was completely naked.
A criminal complaint was filed and a summons issued on Oct. 10, per court records.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 3 at 11 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Cathleen Kelly Rebar.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
