Fifteen Perkiomen Valley High School students were recognized by the school board last week for achieving "Commended Student" status in the National Merit Scholarship Program and for participating in the 2024 Montgomery County Honors String Orchestra Festival.
"We are proud to recognize several outstanding Perkiomen Valley High School students who have achieved 'Commended Student' status in the National Merit Scholarship Program. These students have demonstrated exceptional proficiency in the PSAT/NMSQT, which assesses their skills in reading, mathematics, and writing. Their remarkable performance opens up opportunities for special scholarships generously sponsored by corporations and businesses," said Dr. Zach Fuller, principal of Perkiomen Valley High School. "These are the top 1-and-a-half percent of students nationwide. When you look at the letter, there are 50,000 students named to this honor, and that makes sense only when you know there are 3.7 million students who took the test."
The following students were honored:
Michael Demarco
Shane Giorgio
Tyson Hunsberger
Margaret Klein
Cindy Li
Clare McGlaughlin
Jack O'Neill
Erin Schuler
"Next, we recognize our students selected to participate in the 2024 Montgomery County Honors String Orchestra Festival. This prestigious event will showcase the incredible musical talents of students from across the region. The festival will be held at Upper Moreland High School, and we are proud to have our students represent our District with their exceptional skills and dedication," said Fuller. "Special thanks to Mr. Sulomon for his invaluable guidance and direction."
Honored students included:
Emma Alvare

The board and public was then presented with a stings performance.
