A Bucks County man is facing prison time after his DNA was discovered on a latex glove found at the scene of a burglary in Upper Providence Township.
This key piece of evidence has led to a significant legal outcome for 26-year-old Enrique Geovani Mulero, of Knights Road in Bensalem, per The Mercury.
Mulero was sentenced to 2 to 6 years in prison after admitting to felony charges that include theft by unlawful taking and conspiracy to commit burglary, per court records.
This sentencing in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court stems from a break-in that occurred in October 2020, authorities said.
The plea agreement was accepted by Judge Thomas C. Branca, who also mandated an additional two years of probation post-parole, effectively keeping Mulero under court supervision for a total of eight years, according to the article.
Mulero is required to pay $3,700 as a result of the burglary, per court documents.
The investigation into the burglary began on October 23, 2020, when local police responded to a call regarding a break-in at a property located on Black Rock Road. Upon arrival, officers learned from the property owner that multiple items, including firearms, ammunition, tools, and chainsaws, had been stolen after forced entry was made into both a pole barn and a camper, authorities said.
Investigators noted clear signs of forced entry, including damage to doors and windows, along with glass fragments scattered near the broken windows.
A critical piece of evidence was found during the investigation: a small blue fingertip of a latex glove, located about four feet from the camper’s southwest corner, per the report.
A forensic analysis confirmed that the DNA on the glove matched Mulero, police said. As the investigation continued, authorities received information from a confidential source who revealed that Mulero and an accomplice, Ricardo Rivera, had planned the burglary together, per The Mercury.
The source detailed how Mulero had broken a window and removed items from the camper, which were then loaded into Rivera’s vehicle.
The source told authorities that Rivera had broken into the barn and stolen various tools and chainsaws. Investigators discovered that the duo had sold the stolen chainsaws for a total of $1,100 through a connection they made via Facebook Messenger.
Additionally, one of the firearms taken during the burglary was later recovered during a narcotics investigation in Lancaster in March 2022, per the article.
Rivera, 50, of Woodlyn, has already pleaded guilty to his charges and is currently awaiting sentencing.
